EA Sports officially announced Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, also known as Kaka, as their FIFA 11 cover athlete. Other seventeen players will get cover placement with the 28 year old star player of Real Madrid, but the Brazilian superstar will be the only one that will show up on every single FIFA 11 cover (other players will appear on covers depending on where the game will be sold).
FIFA always brings really great players as their cover athlete, and they are not judging only by their physical appearance, but also by how they manage to impress the fans by their outstanding soccer skills. Selecting Kaka, EA sports intends to deliver Kaka’s visionary style of soccer.
Matt Bibley, EA Sports vice president of football said: “With Kaka’s visionary style of soccer he’s always one step ahead of the opposition, moving into space with an often subtle change of pace and delivering crisp, creative one-touch passes and catching the goalkeepers off guard with strikes often from distance on either foot”. I think this is a pretty good description of Kaka’s play style. In my opinion, Kaka doesn’t deserve to be the cover athlete judging by his performance in Africa, but I am not the one taking the decisions. In addition I believe that Kaka as cover athlete is a great strategic move, Electronic Arts trying to some sort of global monopoly in what concernes soccer simulators.
The game will be released on Sept. 28 in North America and Oct. 1 in Europe and Asia. Game features and the other cover athletes will be announced in the next month.
