How to: Carrier Unlock Your iPhone

I have some pretty good news for iPhone users: it’s possible to use your iPhone without an AT&T contract in the USA. You must know that the only service you can use it on is T-Mobile. The first step is to jailbreak your iPhone, and after that install a free software unlock. There are many contradictory discussions about jailbreaking concerning many aspects. In fact jailbreaking was officially legalized on July 26, and provides the users root access to the iPhone, so they can access and modify any file on the device.

As I said before the first step is to jailbreak your iPhone. Now I will show you how to install the free software unlock I told you about. There are some important things you must know before we begin. If you have the new iPhone 4 make sure that no software unlock is out. The 3GS and other previous generation iPhones can be jailbroken and unlocked. That being said, I have to tell you about the unlock software you will use. It’s called ultrasn0w and it’s been created by the iPhone Dev Team. To install ultrasn0w and unlock your device follow these steps:

1. Open Cydia
2. Add repo666.ultrasn0w.com to your sources
3. Install ultrasn0Reboot
4. That’s it! Your iPhone should now be unlocked. You can use your iPhone on T-Mobile.
