If you’re into ultra portable, ultra thin and yet powerful laptop, here’s this one for you: The ASUS U36 is the thinnest laptop in the world, it weights just over three pounds and you can choose between two processors, Core i3 or i5. It comes with Nvidia Optimus graphics, and a four-cell battery that should provide up to 10 hours of battery life.
While most thin laptops on the market use low voltage processors because it reduces the power consumption and heat emission, ASUS U36 break patterns and features Intel Core i3 or even Core i5 for full performance. This can be done because ASUS installed a cooling system with two heat-pipes that dissipates heat effectively without adding extra weight. The result is the ability to play back rich multimedia content, to run demanding games or you can open simultaneously advanced programs. All these things come with a notebook with a thickness of 19mm.
Here’s a commercial from ASUS official YouTube account:
ASUS U36’s shell is very thin, being made of an alloy of magnesium and aluminum. The laptop is protected against dust and water through a gentle material covering the shell to nanometric level. Thus, the U36 will keep its exterior clean, during all day.
Granted, it’s not the most powerful laptop of them all, but as far as this range of ultrathin (and quite appealing) laptops go, the ASUS U36 seems to be a winner for this holiday season. The ASUS U36 price seems to be $999, but this retailer sells it for $969. Our advice is not to preorder it just yet, wait for more deals to come, and choose after the 14 of December. Most likely we have a ton of all sorts of promotions, offers, new models to show you next week.
